It is the start of a New Year in Rotary. The 2024-2025 Rotary year theme is the “MAGIC OF ROTARY”
My wife and I are excited to start this new journey with all of the Rotarians in District 5020 and in the world!
As we begin this new rotary year, the theme serves as a powerful reminder of the extraordinary impact we can have when we come together on a local project and/or a global project. This month we celebrate the MAGIC that occurs when Rotarians unite with a shared vision of service, creating lasting change in the lives of individuals and communities.
At the heart of Rotary lies the principle of “Service above Self”. This commitment drives us to address pressing issues, from poverty and education to health care and disaster relief and so much more! The Magic of Rotary is evident in the many countless projects undertaken by clubs in District 5020 and around the world. Members dedicating their time, talents and resources to bring about change and uplift those in need. Whether is it building a schools, providing clean water or fighting disease (remember the “We are this close” slogan for polio eradication?/!! – we are almost there!) .
The Magic of Rotary is best illustrated through the stories of those we serve. Watching the smiles of children when they are able to see, taste and experience clean water – some for the first time! Or as Rotarians experiencing the fulfillment within from doing the many local projects that have a positive impact in their community!
As we embrace the theme “Magic of rotary”, it is essential to inspire future generations to carry the torch of service. Engaging youth in Rotary initiatives fosters a sense of responsibility and leadership, to continue the magic for years to come. Programs like Interact and Rotaract help develop young leaders who will carry forward the mission of service.
The Magic of Rotary is a call to action. It reminds us of the incredible potential we as Rotarians unite for a common purpose. Let us harness this magic to create lasting changes in our communities. Illuminating the path to a better community, a better world – one act of service at a time. Just show up and Be the one in your club to bring forth projects that better your community.
