Rotary Leadership Institute

RLI is a multi-district, grassroots leadership development program of member districts organized into regional divisions in various parts of the world.
RLI is not an official program of Rotary International and is not under its control.
The mission of the RLI is to have Rotary clubs identify new club members and those who appear to have the potential for future club leadership and provide quality education in Rotary knowledge and leadership skills .The RLI program does not replace the DLTA or other official Rotary training programs, but augments their important contribution towards a better understanding of what Rotary is about.
The program is not a pre-requisite for becoming a club president. Many clubs that are within a division where the RLI program is available set aside funds each year within their budgets to send new members to the program.
The program is self-sustaining, thus the cost per attending Rotarian is $ 85.00 each. This covers the cost of facility rentals, training materials, lunch, travel costs for course facilitators, and software programs etc. The big advantage to the RLI program is that it comes to within a one hour drive of any Rotary club or group of clubs wishing to participate in the program. It makes delivering training to remote clubs easier on their bottom line. Each course has 12 – 20 participants and is facilitated by two Rotarians trained by RLI
The program is set out in three parts, which are ideally taken one year apart
Part 1
Insights into Leadership, My Rotary World, Ethics – Vocational Service, Foundation I: Our Foundation, Engaging Members, Creating Service Projects
Part 2
Strategic Planning & Analysis, Attracting Members, Club Communication, Team Building, Foundation II: Targeted Service
Part 3
Rotary Opportunities, Effective Leadership Strategies, Foundation III: International Service, Public Image & Public Relations, Building a Stronger Club, Making a Difference
