Next Year’s Theme Logo Announced - RI President-elect Shekhar Mehta is urging members to become more involved in service projects, saying that caring for and serving others is the best way to live because it changes not only other people’s lives, but also our own.

Club Request – I would like to ask you to look at your club roster and if there are members that haven’t made it to your Zoom meetings, please give them a call and check up on them.  Some may be technologically challenged and need a little help getting on Zoom.  Some may be feeling isolated and a call could go a long way to cheer them up.  Some of them could possibly use your assistance in other ways.  You never know what they might be going through.

Covid-19 update: Many Rotary clubs throughout the district have contacted me wanting to know how they could help with the Covid crisis.  We have posted some information on the home page for DACdb.com.  Any Rotarian can log in.  If this is your first time use the exact same username as you do for ClubRunner.  Then click “Forgot password.”  Do not try to use your ClubRunner password.  You will be e-mailed a link to set a new password for DACdb.  This applies to all Rotary members throughout our district, whether you are a member of a ClubRunner club or a DACdb club.

Once you are logged in, you will be on the home tab. There are stories from different clubs, etc. so look for the one titled “Covid Volunteer Opportunities in Pierce County and Surrounding Area”.  We will be adding more information as we get it.  I know the clubs on Vancouver Island are working hard to help their communities, but currently have no volunteer opportunities for vaccine efforts.  Check with Lorna Curtis for the most current information on the island.

March 8th International Women’s Day - Advance notice:  Rotary International President-Elect Jennifer Jones will be speaking via Zoom to Bainbridge Island Rotary at noon on Monday, March 8.  It happens to be International Women’s Day!  Please register for the meeting today: https://d5020.com/JJ2021

Over the Christmas holidays I came across a fascinating website: http://www.tgig.org.  It stands for The Global Impact Group.  Their slogan is “Rotarians Leveraging Technology for the Greater Good.”  I believe they show the future of Rotary meetings once this pandemic is behind us.  Please check them out.

March 13th District Training: open to everyone in the District, don’t forget to sign up at https://d5020.com/DTV2021REG

October 29th – 30th: District Conference update:  Under the advice of Rotary International, I had to cancel the in-person District Conference that was going to be at the Great Wolf Lodge May 14 & 15.  We are now trying to move it to Friday October 29 & Saturday October 30, still at the Great Wolf Lodge south of Olympia, WA.  I’m mentioning this now so you can get it on your calendars.  More information will be coming as we move through this pandemic.

DACdb Update – We are still transitioning the District as well as a number of clubs over to DACdb.  The more we learn about DACdb, the better we like it.  They have offered even more discounts.  If you sign up for DACdb and are considering purchasing their finance module or website; from now until March 15th DACdb will waive the setup fees.  Also, the District has negotiated a great deal; the District will be buying the Engagement Module from DACdb for the entire District at a substantial savings every year.  This will save the clubs even more money.  If you have already signed up for the Engagement module, you can request a refund.  Can’t decide which way to go?  Still need more information about DACdb?  Contact Mary Horn at maryjhorn@gmail.com to sign up for basic training to take a look at their features and benefits.

Please encourage your families and friends to sign up for the vaccine.  Don’t forget to mask up, avoid even small gatherings, and be safe every way you know how.  We will get through this and as we do, Rotarians will learn how to serve their communities to fit the changing times.

Thanks, and I hope to see you at one of your weekly Zoom club meetings soon.

Yours in Rotary,

Greg Horn
