District Information - Our National Anthems

One of the nice things about District 5020 is that it covers two different countries. For those of you not in the know, it's Canada and the United States of America.

Canada and the USA have been friends for some 190 years. Last time we fought where we were actually killing people on purpose was in 1812. Our war started on a small bridge outside of La Salle Ontario. It wasn't a big war, few people died here and a few there. The Canadians burned Buffalo and the USA sacked Toronto. Then everyone kind of got bored and after awhile we stopped. Since then we have been good friends, however we made the joint decision to go our separate ways.

As part of our separate ways, we each have our own National Anthem. For the Canadians, it's O Canada, and for the Americas, it's The Star Spangled Banner.

This page is dedicated to the education our members from both countries on our National Anthems and the best way to present them.  When the District Governor visits your club it is proper protocol to sing both national anthems regardless of what country the District Governor is from or for that matter where you are from.

For our USA members we present
O Canada

For our Canadian members we present
The Star Spangled Banner
