Rotary District 5020 News
Announcement from DG Brian Beagle on Provisional Club.

Club Presidents,

I some exciting news that I want to share with you and your club members:

At the recently completed PETS, the Presidents-elect, representing their Rotary Clubs voted overwhelmingly to ratify the recommendation that District 5020 should apply to be a Pilot District to help shape the Future Vision Plan of The Rotary Foundation. That application will be sent in over the next few weeks. I have been advised that the selection and notification schedule has been changed slightly and we should not expect to hear until mid-July 2009 the results of the Pilot District selection committee.

Our District Rotary Membership Extension Committee has been working hard the last several months to organize a new Rotary Club in Yelm Washington. Their efforts have resulted in a new Provisional Rotary Club. The Yelm Rotary Club (Provisional) meets at 7 AM Tuesday Mornings at Clark’s Bar and Grill at the Tahoma Golf Course. The address is 15425 Mossman St S.W., Yelm, Washington, 98597.  Google Map of meeting place. As a Provisional Rotary Club they are permitted to issue make-ups for visiting Rotarians. I hope that you will encourage your membership to support this new club.

Organizing activities are also underway for a new Rotary Club in Gig Harbor. They are enthusiastically moving forward and I am confident that I will have the privilege of announcing a second provisional Rotary Club in the near future.

Please encourage your membership to visit the District website and register for the District Conference in Bremerton, Washington April 24-26.
