Job Description for
Area Foundation Representative
Welcome to web information for The Rotary Foundation in District 5020.
Please visit this site frequently for updates of information and ideas to
assist your club in reaching your Foundation Giving goals for the year
2007-2008.
The Rotary Foundation is OUR Foundation and I as District
Foundation Chair wish to encourage all of you to make sure that OUR Rotary
Foundation is your charity of choice. Yes, there are many worthwhile
charities that we all would like to support and/or do support, but The
Rotary Foundation is YOUR Foundation so why would it not be your #1 Charity?
You pay hard-earned money to belong to Rotary so that in itself is a
commitment to the organization ~ and the organization is one that you belong
to because you are committed to the ideals of Rotary and to making a
difference in our world, both at home and around the world, especially in
developing countries.
As Past Foundation Chair and Past District Governor Bob Lovely has said,
“District 5020 is one of the largest Rotary Districts in the world. We
should also be one of the leaders in supporting The Rotary Foundation and
have a way to go to achieve that. With over 5200 members living in one of
the most blessed places on earth we can attain our rightful leadership
position with a reasonable amount of effort. However, that reasonable effort
needs to come from every member and every club in the District.”
The fundraising responsibilities of the District Rotary Foundation
Chairs, Area Representatives and Club Chairs have been aligned to provide
direction and assistance for fundraising strategies. Be sure to make use of
these resources to help you and your club participate in the Foundation’s
programs and in raising funds to pay for them. There are many tried and true
methods for helping members establish regular contributions to the Rotary
Foundation. If your Club does not have a regular process for Club Members to
give to the Rotary Foundation, find one and implement it. The best way to
learn these and other valuable techniques is to attend one of our District
Foundation seminars this fall or to contact your TRF Area Representative.”
I look forward to working with all members of District 5020 in ensuring
we reach our Foundation Goals for 2007-2008 and in meeting many of you at
one of our three Foundation Seminars this Fall. The bar continues to be
raised due to the ongoing generosity of D5020 Rotarians, however with the
ever increasing needs around the world and at home, we have work to do to
meet Governor Norm’s Foundation goals – I know we are up to the task and if
you need any assistance whatsoever please do not hesitate to contact your
Area Foundation Representative, your Assistant Governor or a member of the
Foundation Committee and we will be happy to assist. All Aboard” the
Rotary Foundation train ~ let’s have another great year to ensure that
we are able to continue to carry out quality Rotary projects that benefit
those less fortunate than ourselves.
