District Information - District Governor for 2008-2009

District Governor 2008-2009
Brian and Barbara Beagle

A Rotarian since 1980, Brian is a Past President of the Silverdale, WA Rotary Club. He also served as club Secretary, as well as club Rotary Foundation and PolioPlus chairs multiple times. At the District level he chaired the 2002 District Conference, served as Assistant Governor for Area 6 (Kitsap County) in 2003-05, and is currently the District Foundation Annual Funds Sub-Committee Chair.

Brian was commissioned in the U. S. Navy in 1969 and served in both submarines and aviation support for nine years. His final active duty assignment brought him to the Pacific Northwest, where he continued service in the U. S. Navy Reserve, retiring as a Commander. As a civilian, Brian retired in 2005 after a 27-year career in the U. S. defense industry. Barbara also retired in 2005 following a 30-year career in contract and program management in the federal government.

Married since 1969, Brian and Barbara believe in the importance of communication in couple relationships and are heavily involved in organizing and presenting at Marriage Encounter weekends. Brian recently joined the Kitsap County Hospice Board of Trustees and sees it as another opportunity to serve the local community.

Brian is following in his father's Rotary footsteps. Kenneth Beagle was Governor of District 6360 in Michigan in 1962-63. It was his example of both a commitment to service and leadership that has inspired Brian. Brian believes that the strength of Rotary lies in each Rotarian and in strong Rotary clubs, and his vision for the role of the District is to help and support each club to achieve it goals.
