ERIK & MARNIE
Erik was born in California and moved to Washington State in 1968 where he met and married Marnie in 1971. They moved to Port Townsend in 1973 where they have settled and raised their three sons. Both are members of the Rotary Club of Port Townsend and feel privileged to be Major Donors and members of the Bequest Society of the Rotary Foundation.
Erik received a BS in Education from California State University at Hayward. He's owned and operated Frederickson Electric Inc., a general electrical contracting firm, for 31 years. Marnie received a BA in English Literature and an MLS in Library and Information Science from the University of Washington. She currently is on the board of the Youth Arts Council and chair of the Kaleidoscope Summer Arts Camp. The YAC is a nonprofit organization formed to enrich the lives of young people through community based arts programs offering opportunities for arts exploration, discovery and the development of creativity.
In the Port Townsend Club, Erik has served as Foundation Chair, International Service Director and as President in 1997-98. At the District level he has served as an Assistant Governor 2000-03, Clean Water Initiative Coordinator for the U.S. region of the District 2002-04, and as Rotary Foundation Annual Funds Chair 2003-05.
Erik and Marnie have traveled to England as members of a District 5020 Rotary Friendship Exchange Team and to Guatemala as members of "Team Guatemala" of the Port Townsend and East Jefferson County Clubs. The "Team" worked on the construction of two houses and visited a solar oven project local Rotary clubs have been sponsoring.
Erik has served on the boards of United Way and the Jefferson County Family YMCA. Additionally he has served on several community steering committees and citizen advisory boards and was selected Port Townsend Citizen of the Year in 2003.
Rotary's core principle of service to humankind with the goal of world peace and understanding has served as the cornerstone of Erik's Rotary experience. He and Marnie look forward to serving all District 5020 members and clubs and supporting their efforts to make the earth a better and more peaceful place.
