Dick And Aline Drew. District 5020
Dick joined Rotary in Hamilton, Ontario 1975.
In 1979 he moved west to Duncan, B.C. to purchase radio station
CKAY [now 89.7 SUN-FM] where he joined the Duncan Rotary club.
Has held numerous offices including Club President, District
Conference chair, twice named " Rotarian of the Year" Assistant
Governor. Aline and Dick are Multiple Paul Harris fellows.
In
2002 he produced a very unique series of thirty TV commercials
featuring Vancouver Island Rotary projects. The commercials were
broadcast 75 times each week for thirty weeks over both
Vancouver Island cable TV systems [one new commercial each week]
The commercials have been produced into a recruitment video for
Rotary clubs, high schools, and libraries. Every club in
District 5020 received one copy free. Requests for copies of the
video have been received from as far away as Australia. The
project was funded in part by corporate advertisers, Rotarians
and several Rotary clubs. Over the years Dick has worn many
hats. Broadcaster, network radio producer/syndicator, marketing
consultant with clients in Canada and the US.

1985 he created the daily syndicated network radio program " The
Canadian Achievers" He was host, writer, and producer. During
its 14 year run he authored two books. One is a bilingual timed
typing school textbook. The other is a best selling collection
of stories from the series. Both books are titled " The Canadian
Achievers"
Raised on a small farm near Morinville, Alberta he attended an
eight grade one room school. At age 14 he left home, boarded a
ship in Vancouver, and for the next 5 years worked as a deck
hand on oil tankers sailing around the world. Through a
miraculous stroke of good luck he met his future bride Aline
Gallant in Montreal. They married in 1956. They have three
children and five spectacularly gorgeous, unspoiled,
well-mannered grandchildren.
In 1972 he received the Queens Silver Jubilee medal for his
Community Service involvement. In 1986 a leading national
business magazine named him " One of Canada's 50 men of
Influence"
His life motto has always been. " Keep Achieving"
His proudest Rotary achievement came in
September 05 when at the Zone 22 Institute in Winnipeg, Manitoba
and the Zone 23/24 Institute in Sacramento, California District
5020 received eight zone awards for their achievements during
the Rotary year 2004-05. .The Largest number of awards ever
presented to one district in one year. Fitting recognition of
the outstanding " Centennial Year' the District enjoyed...
In 2005 Aline and Dick moved to Maple Ridge B.C to live near
