Monty Audenart (Liz)

Born and raised in Southern Alberta, Monty received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 1977 from the University of Alberta. He has served as President of two Dental Societies, including a number of years serving on the Peer Review Committee for the Alberta Dental Association. He is a Fellow of the Pierre Fauchard Academy of Dentistry, and the International Academy of Dentistry. As a Rotary volunteer he has taken his professional skills to the less fortunate of the world, through Rotary sponsored projects; to such countries as Mexico, Jamaica, Bangladesh, the Philippines, Thailand, Korea, and Far Eastern Russia. He has served communities from the Amazon River in Peru, to the Arctic Circle in Canada.
In his Community, Monty has served as President of the Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Airport Commission, is a founding member of the Red Deer Symphony Orchestra, and has been an active volunteer for the Canadian Cancer Society. In 2001 he received the Mayor’s Recognition Award for “Distinguished Volunteer Service.” In 2003 he was awarded The Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal.

He is a certified instructor for shotgun sports, and an avid fisherman. Monty joined the Red Deer East Rotary Club in 1987. He served as Club President in 1990-91, a District Governor’s Special Representative to help charter the Rotary Club of Red Deer Sunrise in 1999, and then as District Governor 2000-2001, where he worked with his District to receive RI’s 21st Century Membership Challenge Award for Zone 22. Since then he has served as a Zone Task Force Member for Disaster Relief, a member of RI’s Fellowship Committee 2002-2003, a Zone Leader for the Polio Eradication Campaign, a President’s Representative, and a Representative to the Council on Legislation. He has served as a District Trainer, and both Zone and Regional Rotary International Membership Coordinator. Monty served as an RI Training Leader to the incoming Governors, 2004 and 2005, and served as the Governor Elect Training Seminar Co-Chair in Zone 22 in 2004 and 2005, and Zone Training Leader 2006. He is the Rotary International Director from Zone 22 for the Rotary years 2007-2009.

He is the Founder of the Rotarian Action Group of Dental Volunteers. Monty is married to Liz, who has also been honoured as a volunteer in her community, and they are the parents of 6 children, and have ten grand children. They are active members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Monty and Liz are Major Donors to the Rotary Foundation, and are Charter members of the Rotary Foundation Bequest Society.

Dr. David Scott
Associate Professor of Sport Psychology

University of New Brunswick

Dr. David Scott is an Associate Professor of Sport Psychology in the Faculty of Kinesiology at the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton, New Brunswick

He completed a B.A. and a P.G.C.E. at the University of Ulster, Belfast, Northern Ireland, and an MA in Sport Psychology, an MA in Psychology, and a Ph.D. in Sport Psychology at the University of Victoria.

He teaches and does research in the area of sport and exercise Psychology. Since coming to the University of New Brunswick in 1997, Dr. Scott has been involved in over 50 research projects and published or presented over 80 papers. In addition, he has given over 150 invited talks and workshops.

He has been a consultant with a number of companies and government departments, in addition to being a sport psychology consultant with a number of teams including the, the Vancouver Canucks, and the Philadelphia Flyers, of the National Hockey League, the Manitoba Moose and the Louisville Panthers of the American Hockey League, the North Bay Centennials of the Ontario Hockey League, the Moose Jaw Warriors and the Swift Current Broncos of the Western Hockey League, the Moncton Wildcats of the Quebec Hockey League, as well as with the University of New Brunswick Varsity Reds. For the past three years he has worked with the West Indies Cricket team. In addition he has worked with a number of individual Olympic and World champions. He is currently working with the Florida Panthers of the National Hockey League.

Pam Goldsmith-Jones

Pam was elected Mayor in West Vancouver in November 2005, after serving for one term as Councillor.

Pam was born and raised in West Vancouver and earned Bachelors and Masters Degrees from UBC in Political Science. She entered public life for the first time in 1992, having just moved to North Vancouver, and served for one term on the North Vancouver District Council before moving to San Francisco, where she led a Marin County community initiative in Stinson Beach. Returning to West Vancouver in 2001, Pam ran for Council in 2002.

Pam is an innovative leader particularly with regard to how citizen participation shapes our democratic institutions. She sets high standards for open government, and devotes a lot of her time to helping citizens and community groups connect with government at all levels. She is vice-chair of the Waste Committee and a Director of Metro Vancouver. She serves on the Mayors Council for Translink, and is a regular volunteer for Leadership Vancouver and for Action Canada.

Pam is married to Geoff Goldsmith-Jones, and they have three children who attend Rockridge Secondary and BCIT.

Tom Wilkinson

Tom was raised in Montreal, Quebec and moved to Prince Edward Island with his wife, Audrey and their two daughters, in 1970. For thirty of the past 38 years, Tom has been engaged as a teacher and school administrator. Following retirement, and until recently, he has served as Director of Pastoral Planning for the Diocese of Charlottetown. Educational qualifications include a B.A., B.Ed. and a Master of Arts in Educational Administration.

Since serving as Charter President of the Rotary Club of Charlottetown Royalty, 1986-88, Tom has been involved with club committees in all Four Avenues of service.

At the District level, Tom was District Trainer for seven years, GSE Team leader to D4800, Argentina and served for three years on the Selection Committee for GSE Team Leaders and Team Members. He spent two terms as District Membership and Retention Chair, District Finance and Strategic Planning Committee Chair, District Governor’s Advisory Committee and is the current District TRF Annual Programs Fund Chair.

Tom and Audrey served as District Governor in 2001-02 for District 7820, which includes all Rotary clubs in Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador as well as the islands of St. Pierre and Miquelon (France).

At the Zone 22 level, Tom has been presenter and sessional leader at Zone Institutes, member of Planning Committee Zone Institute - Moncton, Zone Trainer for Governor- elect Training - Anchorage, Zone District Governor Mentor Program - Niagara Falls, and RI Director’s Advisory Committee. Tom has also served for three years as RI Zone Membership Coordinator, RI President’s Representative to D7640 in 2004 and is a member of the RI Los Angeles Convention Promotions Committee. Tom is the recipient of two RI Director’s Awards, District Governor Citations and the Rotary Foundation District Service Award. Tom and Audrey are multi Paul Harris Fellows, TRF Benefactors and Members of The Rotary Foundation Bequest Society..

Sanjeev Chowdhury

Mr. Chowdhury is from Halifax, Nova Scotia. He went to Saint Mary’s University where he was student union president and graduated in 1989 (B. Comm, Magna Cum Laude). In 1991, Mr. Chowdhury graduated from the American Graduate School of International Management (MBA, With Distinction) where he was named top graduate. His studies in America were funded by a Rotary International Foundation Scholarship.

In 1995, Mr. Chowdhury joined the Canadian Foreign Service. He served abroad in Mumbai, India and in Ottawa held a number of positions including Press Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Director of Operations to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance.

In 2003, Mr. Chowdhury was named Consul General of Canada to Ho Chi Minh City.

In recognition of his work while Consul General, Mr. Chowdhury became the first foreign diplomat in Vietnam to be awarded three prestigious medals in one year by Vietnamese authorities (UNESCO Medal–Oct 2005, Ho Chi Minh City Insignia Medal-Apr 2006, and the Peace and Friendship Medal Between Nations-June 2006).

Mr. Chowdhury’s efforts did not go unrecognised back home, either. Mr. Chowdhury was appointed to the National Honourary Board of Directors of Theatre Halifax and was named an “Outstanding Nova Scotian” by the same group in 2005.

In June, 2006, Mr. Chowdhury was chosen to receive Canada’s “2006 Foreign Service Officer Award” by the Canadian Professional Association of Foreign Service Officers (PAFSO). The Awards were instituted in 1990 by PAFSO as a means of providing peer recognition of exceptional achievement by career Foreign Service Officers. Mr. Chowdhury received the award at a gala dinner at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa on June 15, 2006 as a result of his outstanding efforts in representing and promoting Canada in Vietnam as Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City.

In August, 2006, upon completion of his term as Canada’s Consul General in Vietnam, Mr. Chowdhury was appointed Deputy Chief of Protocol and Director, Diplomatic Corps Services at Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada in Ottawa, a post he held for 7 months before being transferred to the new Afghanistan Task Force in Ottawa where he has served as Director of Bilateral Relations and Inter-Departmental Co-ordination for the last six months.

On October 19, 2007, the Prime Minister appointed 5 eminent Canadians (Hon. John Manley, Pamela Wallin, Hon. Jake Epp, Paul Tellier, and Derek Burney) to serve on the “Independent Panel on Canada’s Future Role in Afghanistan” and report to him by January, 2008. Mr. Chowdhury has just been appointed Director of Operations to this Panel. In January, once the report is delivered to the Prime Minister, Mr. Chowdhury will resume his duties at Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada as Director of the Afghanistan Task Force.
