WELCOME to the DLTA 2008!

Governor 2008—2009, Brian Beagle

Barbara and I are excited about to opportunity to serve as your District Governor for 2008-09. In our meetings with the incoming club presidents we heard many wonderful ideas for projects and club events. The role of the District is to support each Rotary Club and to help Rotarians have a successful year by implementing and completing worthwhile projects both in their communities and internationally.

If our clubs are to be effective, they must be dynamic, vital, energetic, and growing. The District Leadership Training Assembly, scheduled for 23-24 February is designed to provide information and training to do just that. We recognize that your time is valuable, so the District training team has constructed a schedule that includes a full range of training and information updates but still leaves time for fellowship.

The world around us is undergoing dramatic changes, and so is Rotary. The need for programs focused on serving our neighbors and to help improve the quality of life for all has never been greater. The need for understanding how our actions affect the lives of others has never been more important. Rotary programs such as Rotary Foundation, Group Study Exchange, Ambassadorial and Peace Scholarships, Youth Exchange, Friendship Exchange, and World Community Service Projects are just some of the ways we can make a positive contribution.

We look forward to welcoming you all to the Fairmont Empress on February 23rd to kick off the District Leadership Training Assembly.

See you in Victoria,

Brian
